Carolyn Sue (Hinds) White, age 77 of Noblesville and formerly of Elwood, passed away peacefully Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017, at her residence following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born on June 20, 1940, in Catlin, the daughter of Roger and Helen (Petheram) Tappy.

She worked as a bookkeeper at the Waldner-Meyer Company for many years and retired in 2006.  She also formerly worked as an office manager at the dental office of Dr. Joe Barnett and Dr. Dennis Church in Elwood for more than 10 years. She was a 1958 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School in Elwood. She formerly married Roger Hinds, and he passed away suddenly at a young age in 1980.  She later married David W. White on Nov. 23, 1983, and they were blessed to share 34 years of marriage together.

Mrs. White was a person who loved life, and lived it to the fullest. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, spending time with animals on her property, decorating and landscaping her home, enjoying margaritas with family and friends, and was known for being very artistic. She especially loved Christmas, and all the extensive decorating and preparation surrounding the holiday season.  She had a great sense of humor and sarcasm, and was fun to be around. She was truly devoted to her family, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband of 34 years, David White of Noblesville; 3 daughters, Wendy S. (husband Rick) Beller of Dauphin Island, Ala., Lisa L. Summers of Elwood, and Stephanie K. (husband Geoff) Nicol of Nobelsville; brother, Everett Tappy of Chicago; 4 grandchildren, Larry Summers, Zach (wife Amanda) Summers, Zane Summers, and Weston Huffer; a great-granddaughter, Ramona expected in April 2018; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Roger Hinds; and son-in-law, Michael Summers in 2016.

A funeral service celebrating Mrs. White’s life is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with her son-in-law, Geoff Nicol and other family members speaking. Cremation will follow the service.  Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017, at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association through the funeral home.
