FISHERS – Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness told backers that he is asking voters to keep him in office. Fadness, a Republican, became the first mayor of Fishers in 2015. He has led a flurry of activity in Hamilton County’s second-largest city through aggressive economic development.
“It’s rewarding to see what we’ve accomplished as a city,” Fadness said in a press release. “Collaboration with business, nonprofit, community and neighborhood leaders has made Fishers strong. Being named the ‘Best Place to Live in America’ reflects the thoughtful planning and hard work we have undertaken.”
New economic development records have been set every year of Fadness’ administration. Since 2015, more than 4,500 new jobs have been created and Fishers has attracted $330 million in new private investment.
Since taking office, Fadness has touted his vision to make Fishers a smart, vibrant and entrepreneurial city. Through the establishment of Launch Fishers and the IoT Lab, Fadness has helped Fishers stand apart from other communities as a hub for technology and innovation.
“As long as we have the courage, energy and entrepreneurial spirit to take what is happening globally - embrace it and adapt - we will continue to be a strong community,” he said. “When we approach challenges with innovation, we succeed.”
Fadness’ vision for Fishers includes making it a city where residents can live, work and play in the same community. Efforts to revitalize downtown, recruit businesses and expand quality of life initiatives have contributed to Fishers’ growing success.
One of his highest priorities has been the development and execution of a city mental health initiative partnering with schools, health care providers, and community organizations to remove the stigma around mental health issues, raise awareness and prevent suicide. As a result of his efforts, Fadness received the Government Leader Award from Mental Health America of Indiana.

In addition to leading efforts to make Fishers a safe, strong city, Fadness has focused on increasing quality of life and entertainment amenities that attract and retain both residents and visitors. Highlights among them include the attraction of Ikea, Top Golf, the new downtown amphitheater, the nation’s largest urban farm – Agripark, the recent announcement of the Geist public park project and the upcoming Yard project.
“This is an incredible time for our city and I am committed to fulfilling the vision,” he said. “With the support of our residents, we can continue this important work that will make Fishers one of the best places to live in America for a long time.”
Fishers is the 6th largest city in Indiana.
