The Empty Plate represents the 28,150 individuals in Hamilton County who struggle with food insecurity.  This is 1 in 10 Hamilton County residents.

Food insecurity means you are faced with these tough questions, “Do I purchase food today for my family or do I pay the rent?”  When children are hungry, they cannot focus and do well in school.

In the past year alone Hamilton County Harvest Food Bank, the local Hamilton County food bank, has helped food pantries, summer lunch programs, and weekend back sack programs provide over 104,000 meals.  Over 700 children received Summer Lunch across the county in 2017 using food provided by HCH Food Bank.

Much of the food HCH provides has to be purchased.  HCH relies on community support and donations to make these food purchases. To help maximize donations they partner with the Meijer Corporation in their Simply Give program at the Noblesville Store.  This allows a $10 donation to become $30 in food purchases HCH can use year round.

Our goal is to raise $25,000, but we need the donations before Dec. 7 to utilize the Meijer Double Match Donations.  Your donation will help us reach our goal and bless the Food Bank with $75,000 in food cards to be used throughout 2018.  All donations can be made through Hamilton County Harvest Food Bank, either online or via check.  Donations can also be made in the Noblesville store through Dec. 30., which will result in matching Meijer donations ($10 becomes $20).

We can all help end hunger here in Hamilton County.   On Giving Tuesday, Nov. 28, please answer the #EmptyPlateChallenge and help your local friends and neighbors.
