The Noblesville Police Department will participate in National Night Out program, for the first time, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 8.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.

The event is scheduled for Lot 3, at the corner of 8th Street and Maple Avenue.

Residents will be able to meet and take photos with NPD officers, learn about the department's SWAT van and police cars, see the NPD boat, bicycle and motorcycles and experience "drunk goggles."

Child ID kits will be available, including fingerprinting for children. There will be a K9 demonstration, free giveaways, crime prevention information, and a children's coloring contest.

Free hotdogs, water and popsicles will be available while supplies last.
