Riverview Health, along with city officials and community representatives, held a groundbreaking on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018 for its new ER & urgent care to be located in the northwest corner of 116th Street and the Exit 5 Parkway in Fishers.
“This is a really exciting time of growth for us,” said Seth Warren, president and CEO of Riverview Health. “We officially opened Riverview Health Westfield Hospital on Tuesday, and today we break ground on our next project. This location will expand the Riverview Health footprint into the southern part of Hamilton County.”
The Riverview Health Westfield Hospital combined ER & urgent care model will also be used at the Fishers location. Patients will come to one convenient access point and be guided to the level of care needed. The ER services will be available 24/7, while the urgent care hours will be 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. every day. An ER physician, regardless of the level of service needed, will see all patients. However, they will only be billed for the level of care provided.
“Many patients don’t know whether they need emergency services or urgent care,” said Warren. “This model that we’re using at Riverview Health Westfield Hospital and at our four soon-to-be-built ER & urgent care centers, will eliminate the need for them to decide. Many visits to the emergency department could be treated in an urgent care setting at a lower cost.”
The Fishers location is one of four ER & urgent care centers Riverview Health has planned to build over the next year. While the specific locations for the other centers have not been finalized, they will be located in north Carmel, west Carmel and the Nora area of Indianapolis.
This project is in conjunction with Intuitive Health, an organization located in North Texas that has worked with established health systems throughout the nation to build and manage retail health facilities that specialize in full-service emergency and urgent care services in a licensed hospital outpatient department. These retail-centric facilities will each be approximately 10,000 square feet and will be developed under the guidance of commercial real estate firm Equity, E4H Architecture and local construction firm, Meyer Najem.
