Barbara J. Byer, 76, Markleville, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, at her home following a brief illness.

She was born June 10, 1941, in Goshen, to William and Etta Mae (Loveall) Rumple.

She graduated from Lapel High School in 1959. She retired from Crandall's Physical Arts Center in Pendleton. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting and had made a blanket for each of her children and grandchildren and many others as well. She was a great supporter of her children and grandchildren in their sporting and other extracurricular activities.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Richard; three children, Chris (wife, Tina) Byer of Markleville, Penny (husband, Gary) Gustin of Pendleton, and Lori Sparks of Markleville; seven grandchildren, Nathan Byer, Destiny (husband, Todd) Henderson, Kolby (wife, Allison) Gustin, Kenzie Gustin, Conner Gustin, Aaron Brizendine, and Austin Brizendine; three great-grandchildren, Kenna Henderson, Liam Henderson, and Jonathan Gustin; one sister, Margaret (husband, Don) Hughes of Shelbyville; and countless friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A funeral service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2017, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 Main North St., Lapel, with Pastor Jesse Flood officiating.

Visitation is scheduled from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2017, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 Main North St., Lapel.
