Charles Anthony "Tony" Blanton, age 77, of Sheridan, passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 24, 2017, at the Sheridan Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Jan. 4, 1940 in Indianapolis, he was the son of the late Herbert and Genevieve (Newman) Blanton.

The textbook example of a workaholic, after graduating from Manuel H.S. with the class of 1958, he went straight into the workforce. He worked for Link Belt Corp. for more than 25 years, retiring as a foreman within its auto chain division. When he wasn't working he loved tinkering and building. Blacksmithing was one of his favorite hobbies, but his true passion was antique tractors. He truly loved learning about and working on them. He was also a huge fan of tractor racing. He also enjoyed getting to travel, especially his trips to Arizona. He enjoyed going for hikes looking for and collecting arrow heads.

Survivors include his son, Joseph Anthony Blanton (Ann Perkins) of Sedona, Ariz.; his daughter, Kimberly Ann Lavengood (Billy Jack) of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; 2 grandchildren, Crystal Feldmiller and Leanna McGinnis; 1 great grandchild, Zoe Sheffield; and his brother, Michael Blanton (Patricia) of Indianapolis.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Private family services are being planned for a later date.
