The IHSAA announced Sunday the pairings for the girls basketball sectionals that’ll get underway Tuesday, Jan. 30.

With more than 60 sites hosting the first step toward a state title, there’s sure to be plenty of intriguing match-ups and exciting basketball over the next couple weeks.

Lets take a look at a few of the brackets that include some area teams who have hopes of making it to Indianapolis. We’ll also make a few predictions that are sure to be wrong — but that’s what this time of the year is all about.

Sectional 8, Class 4A at Fishers

Byes: Carmel, Hamilton Southeastern
First Round: Noblesville vs. Anderson, Westfield vs. Fishers

Breakdown: Carmel and Southeastern earn byes in this bracket and are the favorites to meet in the championship game Feb. 3 at 7:30. Michigan-bound Amy Dilk and Iowa-bound Tomi Taiwo lead the Greyhounds, who have only lost twice all season. Super sophomore Sydney Parrish has battled injuries this season, but that hasn’t stopped the talented guard from averaging 15.9 points and 5.8 rebounds a game for the Royals. It won’t be a cakewalk to the finals for either school, however. Noblesville is riding a six-game win streak, and the Lady Millers are led by Michigan-bound prospect Emily Kiser’s 20 points and 13 boards per game. Noblesville beat its first-round opponent, Anderson, 63-62 in overtime Dec. 12 at The Mill. In the second opening-round game, Fishers will look to avenge an overtime loss that Westfield handed them earlier this year. Senior guard Toni Grace leads the Tigers in scoring at 15.4 point a contest, but three other players are averaging at least 7.2 points per game, as well. After a recent three-game win streak, Westfield has dropped three of its last four. The Shamrocks are led in scoring by junior guard Jade Shipley’s nine points a game.

First round (Jan. 30): Noblesville over Anderson, Fishers over Westfield
Second round (Feb. 2) : Carmel over Noblesville, Southeastern over Fishers
Championship (Feb. 3): Carmel over Southeastern

Sectional 24, Class 3A at Blackford

Byes: Yorktown
First round: New Castle vs. Delta, Jay County vs. Muncie Burris, Blackford vs. Hamilton Heights

Breakdown: Despite not getting a first-round bye, Hamilton Heights looks like the favorite to emerge from this sectional. The Huskies are on a roll, having won their last nine games, and seem to be peaking at the right time. Thousand-point scorer Kayla Kirtley leads a balanced Huskies offensive attack that includes three players averaging double-figures. Heights’ first-round opponent, Blackford, shouldn’t give the Huskies too many problems. Blackford’s only win this season came against Muncie Burris Jan. 10.

First round (Jan. 30-31): New Castle over Delta, Jay County over Muncie Burris, Hamilton Heights over Blackford
Second round (Feb. 2): New Castle over Yorktown, Hamilton Heights over Jay County
Championship: Hamilton Heights over New Castle

Sectional 27, Class 3A at Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory

Byes: Indianapolis Bishop Chatard
First round: Indianapolis Northwest vs. Crispus Attucks, Cardinal Ritter vs. Broad Ripple, Brebeuf vs. Guerin

Breakdown: It’s been an up and down season for Guerin. After starting the season 0-10, the Golden Eagles rattled off back-to-back wins. Guerin dropped its next five games, before going on a season-long three game win streak. The Golden Eagles have a good shot at advancing to at least this sectional’s semifinals. Guerin draws Brebeuf in the first round — a team the Golden Eagles beat by 29 less than a week ago.

First round (Jan. 30-31): Crispus Attucks over Indianapolis Northwest, Cardinal Ritter over Broad Ripple, Guerin over Brebeuf
Second round (Feb. 1): Chatard over Attucks, Cardinal Ritter over Guerin
Championship (Feb 2): Chatard over Cardinal Ritter
