James Kuszewski, 81, of Carmel passed away Sept. 4, 2017.

He was born on Aug. 10, 1936, in Milwaukee, to Joseph and Anna Trawicki Kuszewski.

He attended St. John Cathedral High School. He earned his undergraduate degree at Marquette University and PhD at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, both in organic chemistry. While an undergraduate, he was the recipient of the Konrad Adenauer scholarship, established by then-Chancellor of West Germany.

Survivors include his second wife, Mary Fisher; children, John (Diane) Kuszewski, Judy (Ian) Welsh and Bob (Laurel) Kuszewski; 6 grandchildren and a brother, Joseph Kuszewski.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Kuszewski in 2008.

Family and friends are scheduled to gather 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church with the Mass of Christian Burial scheduled for noon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to the Marie and James Kuszewski Memorial Scholarship Fund, PO Box 1687, Lafayette, IN 47902.
