Jim "Sonny" Crail, 69, Zionsville, passed away Oct. 22, 2017.

He was born Dec. 24, 1947, in Indianapolis, the son of Ermal and Mary (Grimes) Crail.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for more than 22 years, also serving in Vietnam. He was a proud Marine. He was also proud of and loved his family. He became an insurance agent in 1988, eventually forming his own business, Premier Financial Group USA. He attended St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. He loved to play golf and was a huge Colts and Pacers fan.

On June 6, 1970, he married Kathleen Crail, who survives, and was Jim's wife for 47 years. Other survivors include by his children, Angie Bowden (Eddie), and James "J. C." Crail II; his grandchildren, Jarred Bowden (Angel) and Jannia Bowden; his siblings, Bruce Crail, Alvin Crail (Linda), Fran Johnson (Greg), and Maura Griffin (Dallas); and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, 1870 Oak St., Zionsville, with visitation scheduled from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at church. Burial will be in Eagle Creek Cemetery, with military honors.
