Mary Laura Stepp, age 93, of Tipton, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017, at her home with her family at her side.

She was born Sept. 20, 1923, at Bowling Green, Ky., to Benjamin Harrison and Edna B. (Bracken) Sowders.

She was a homemaker and who greatly enjoyed interacting with her family, and they attested to the fact she was a great cook. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting and was a member of the Sew and Tell Quilt Club at Arcadia, and the Round Table Quilt Club at Tipton. She was a member of West Street Christian Church and the Women of the Moose, both at Tipton, IN.

She was first married to Mansfield Adamson, then to William Spears and lastly to Emmit Stepp. They all preceded her in death.

Survivors include her son, Eldon Adamson of Waynesville, N.C.; daughters, Joyce Cline, Judy Parker, and Billiann Wilham all of Tipton; a sister, Ruth Coning of Frankfort; 12 grandchlldren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband she was also preceded in death by a grandson, Cody Kaiser, daughter, Nancy Kellog, sisters, Irene Bracken, Mattie Greathouse, Christine Pruitt and Bertha Raines, brothers, Herman Sowders, Hubert Sowders, Raymond Sowders and Benjamin Harrison Sowders, Jr.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, at West Street Christian Church, at Tipton, with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery also at Tipton.

Visitation is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2017, at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel, 209 West Jackson St., Cicero, IN 46034.
