René Anthony Gonzalez, 70, of Noblesville, passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, at Harbour Manor Care Center in Noblesville.

He was born June 13, 1946, to Jesus and Maria (Acuña) Gonzalez in Gary.

He retired in 1993 after working for Inland Steel in East Chicago, for 30 years. He loved being 'Peepaw' and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening and cars (especially vintage cars); and loved attending and supporting sporting events that his sons and grandchildren were involved in. A man of faith who loved the Lord, he never met a stranger, and loved helping anyone in need.

Survivors include his wife, Tracei Gonzalez; three sons, Michael (Julia) Gonzalez, Briggs Gonzalez, and Tyler Gonzalez; four grandchildren, Evan Gonzalez, Luke Gonzalez, Isabel Gonzalez and Claire Gonzalez; brother, Ben Gonzalez; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Irma Manzo-Mroz; and brother, Jesse Gonzalez.

A funeral mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 15176 Blessed Mother Blvd., Fishers, with Rev. Brian Dudzinski officiating.

Visitation is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville.
