Virginia Mae Harwood, age 88, of Sheridan, passed away Tuesday evening, Sept. 26, 2017, at Harbour Manor Health and Living Center in Noblesville.

Born May 25, 1929 in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Henry Cecil and Sadie Ellen (Lindsay) Jennings.

She attended school in Missouri before moving to Indiana. On Nov. 15, 1952, she would marry the love of her life, Billie Junior Harwood. He preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 1990. For more than 27 years, she worked as a hand screw machine operator for Biddle Manufacturing in Sheridan. Gardening and family were her two great loves in life, and retirement afforded her the time to devote to both. She loved her flowers, but nothing compared to the love she had for her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Margaret E. Bougher (Glen) of Sheridan; 4 grandchildren, Brian M. Harwood (Stacey) of Sheridan, Jennifer M. Harwood-Shepard of Sheridan, Peggy E. Hood (Kenneth) of Noblesville and Billie B Bougher of Cicero; 8 great grandchildren, Kyle Harwood, Abbey Harwood, Connor Harwood, Adam Shepard, Brice Bayless, Brittany Bayless, Dylan Deemer, and Mia Hood; and her brother, James G. Jennings of Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 2 sons, Michael A. Harwood and Robert K. Bidgood; and 10 siblings.

Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St., Sheridan. A graveside service is scheduled, following the visitation, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Kirklin. Pastor Carol Fritz will be officiating.

Memorial contributions may be presented to Guardian Angel Hospice.
