William "Bill" D. Newman, 74, of Westfield, passed away at 6:05 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2017, at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo.

He was born Nov. 20, 1942, in Miami County, the son of the late Robert and Bessie (Echelbarger) Newman.

At the time of his death, he lived with his girlfriend, Debby Elliot (Moon), in Westfield. He was a graduate of Clay Township High School. He worked as a journeyman lineman for Public Service, a supervisor for N.G. Gillbert Corporation, Dillard Smith Construction Company, and Paramont Grading. His passion was horses, including barrel racing and horse racing. He was also a horse farrier and blacksmith. He was an avid basketball fan and enjoyed talking with his brother Bob by phone about the games.

Survivors include his daughters, Lesa JoAnn (Bruce) Baldwin, Burlington, and Lora "Lori" Denise (Stan) Williams, Macy; stepdaughters, Priscilla Sue (John) Chappell, Laurie (Buck) Wardle, and Carol (Randy) Holt; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandkids; siblings, Robert (Laura) Newman, Mooresville, Jo Ellen (Doug) Ivester, Dalton, Ga., and Michael (Kathy) Newman, Sante Fe; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Priscilla Bryan Newman; and sister, Sharon Spangler.

In keeping with his wishes, no services will be held.
