Paul William Johnson, Sr., 96, Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2020.
He was a native of Birmingham, Alabama and came to reside in the Indianapolis area in 1960. Most recently he was a resident of Noblesville, Indiana.
Mr. Johnson is a veteran of World War II and he served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He is a graduate of the Johnson C. Smith University. He has a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina. He was hired in 1960 by the Marion County Lung Association as a health educator. He also taught science at Crispus Attucks High School, worked for the Indiana State Board of Health, and was Director of Implementation for the Indianapolis Model Cities program. He was Chairman of the Board of Directors for Peoples Health Center. Mr. Johnson retired from the Hook Drug Company after working there fifteen years. He was a member of Cicero Christian Church.
He is survived by one son, Charles Johnson; daughter-in-law, Bonita Ying; granddaughter, Amber Ying; and niece, Alma Powell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Johnson; and a son, Paul Johnson, Jr.
Graveside services to be held Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at Noon in Washington Park. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stuart Mortuary, Inc.
