Sharon Kay Anderson, 75, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 8, 2020 at her home in Sheridan.
Born Dec. 8, 1944 in Noblesville, she was the daughter of the late Omer T. and Virginia H. (Holland) Whaley.
She attended Sheridan High School and later hired on with Delco Electronics in Kokomo. She retired in 2001 after 27 years with the company. She was a proud member of U.A.W. Local 292.
In 1960, she married the love of her life, Perry Marshall Anderson. He passed away Sept. 25, 2012.
Mrs. Anderson was always the first one to the car when it was time for a road trip. Short day trips or traveling half way across the country, getting to watch the countryside go by was the second best part of the adventure; the first was finding a new casino, or stopping by an old favorite. Las Vegas was the “promised land” in the west and Biloxi, Miss., her destination to the south, but when Indiana built one the next county over, it was like a dream come true. She loved to play the slots and Anderson was as good a place as any to take a crack at the one-armed bandit.
Visiting casinos wasn't her only reason for hitting the open road; she also enjoyed chasing the sun. Cooler fall temperatures were Mrs. Anderson's sign to start finding a warmer spot to be. Florida was her home away from home during the winter months. She was able to spend her winters outdoors, soaking up the sun. When Indiana warmed up again, she returned home to start working around her property, getting her flower beds and garden ready for summer. It also meant getting to spend more time with family; summer days spent grilling out and swimming in the pool, as well as sharing endless laughs and making memories. Mrs. Anderson also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles while sitting on her deck.
Family was very important to her, and that was especially true when it came to her grandkids. She was always their biggest supporter. Mrs. Anderson was the rock for her family. She will be deeply missed by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing and being loved by her.
Survivors include her son, Perry "Les" (Ronna) Anderson of Tipton; daughters, Marshell Kay Anderson of Kokomo and Melanie G. (Marshall) Ewing of Tipton; grandchildren, Paige Leslie (Billy) Anderson-DeSouza of Utah, Austin Perry (Lindsey) Anderson of Utah, Danielle Kaye-Lyn (Mike) Hadley of Dayton, Ohio, Devon Marshall Ewing of Tipton, and Dylan Omer-Lee Ewing of Tipton; great-grandchildren, Alex Ortega, Alayah DeSouza, Brixton Anderson and Jaxson Anderson; brothers, Donald (Lois Osborne) Whaley of Lebanon, Wm.
