William Samuel Barron, 74, of Sheridan, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at his home.
He was born on March 31, 1947, to Robert and Helen (Kase) Barron in Sheridan, Ind.
Mr. Barron worked and retired from IUPUI. He worked in the call center which connected the university and surrounding hospitals, helping those that needed assistance. Fondly known by many as “Bill the operator,” he had a very kind demeanor and was always helping all his family and friends.
Being a lifelong resident of Sheridan, Mr. Barron graduated from Sheridan High School in 1965. In 1966 he joined the U.S. Navy and served as a chaplain’s assistant on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Coral Seas. Serving four years, Mr. Barron was deployed during the Vietnam conflict.
Survivors include a sister, Joan Morehouse (Gary); many nieces and nephews; and a godson, Seth Roundtree.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert John Barron, Donald Dale Barron and James Lee Barron; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Jo (McWethy) Barron.
Prior to his death, Mr. Barron selflessly donated his body to IU School of Medicine Anatomical Education Program for research. A Celebration of Life will be at a later date in 2021.
