To the editor:
Noblesville voters, as important as the coming election is, the most important vote you will cast is for your school board candidates. Your vote has the most impact in that election, and the school board has the most impact on your daily life. Having served on the Noblesville Schools Board of School Trustees for a dozen years, and 3 years on the Indiana School Board Association board, I have a deep understanding of what makes a great school board member. After attending the school board candidate forum and reviewing the candidate information available through the Noblesville Chamber and League of Women Voters, I am endorsing Carl Johnson, Stephanie Lambert and Christi Crosser.
Carl Johnson has served on the board with distinction for the past 4 years. He brings perspective as a father of four, the spouse of a teacher and years of professional work as an architect. I served with Carl during my last two years, and he was always prepared for our discussions and brought a heart for service. Carl works to understand the desires of the community and the recommendations of our professional administrators and staff. There is a long learning curve for school board service and having Carl’s experience will be invaluable for the next board.
Stephanie Lambert has been a substitute teacher in our schools as well as volunteering as the mother of three, with students at Noble Crossing, West, and NHS. She is part of an advocacy group that has supported mental health and safety in our schools and volunteered on the 2018 referendum campaign supporting safety and teachers. She will bring her professional training as a forensic analyst to bear in supporting STEM and technical training. She is thoughtful and kind and will bring important perspective to the work of the board.
Christi Crosser has been an active member of the Noblesville business community for many years and has served as the Noblesville Chamber of Commerce board president. Her children are recent alumni of NHS and she served on the Noblesville Schools’ 150th anniversary planning committee. Her connections within the community will be important as Noblesville Schools continues to develop new streams of revenue. She will bring great enthusiasm and board experience to the team.
I encourage you to do your own research, as I have, but more importantly, I encourage you to VOTE on or before November 3.
