Dear Editor,
International Day for the Eradication of Poverty was first observed on October 17th, 1987 and it comes around again this Saturday. Poverty has been around before COVID, and now COVID is exacerbating this international epidemic.
Without urgent action, the number of people facing hunger is expected to double by the end of 2020.
Congress has the political power to do something about this crisis.
Therefore, I am asking my Senators Mike Braun and Todd Young to speak to Senate leadership this week and ask that at least $20 billion for international development be included in a COVID-19 supplemental bill. This action is critical.
