Carmel did it again.

?Less than a week after needing a buzzer beater to defeat New Castle, the Carmel Greyhounds used another game winner to beat Lawrence North 52-51 in double-overtime Thursday.

With 7.6 seconds on the clock, and the Greyhounds trailing by two, Carmel’s Cole Jenkins received the inbound pass and drove down the court. Jenkins pulled up from the top of the key and nailed a 3-pointer as the game clock expired.

Jenkins made all four of his 3’s in the contest — but none bigger than the game winner that gave Carmel (12-5, 5-1) its fourth straight win.

Andrew Owens, who hit the winning shot against New Castle, led the Greyhounds in scoring with 15. Jenkins finished with 14 and John Michael Mulloy chipped in with 13. Carmel shot 19-of-39 (48 percent) from the floor as a team.

Jared Hankins led Lawrence North in points with a game-high 17. Tony Perkins and Mike Saunders both finished in double figures with 11 and 10, respectively.

Carmel led 18-17 after the first, and outscored Lawrence North 17-8 in the second to take a 35-25 lead into the locker room. Lawrence fought back in the third, 15-7, before tying the score in a fourth quarter that saw just 10 combined points.

Neither side scored during the first overtime, and Carmel was able to outlast Lawrence in the second extra period.

Carmel travels to Hamilton Southeastern Feb. 9.
