Fishers defeated Hamilton Southeastern Friday night to take the final of the Mudsock trophies this week. The Tigers' Matt Wolff scored the lone touchdown in the first quarter to make the score 7-0 after one.

The Royals were plagued in the first half, unable to score or stop the Tigers' advances. Three minutes into the second quarter Fishers' Ben Norton made a 25 yard field goal, giving Fishers the double digit lead.

It looked like HSE would catch a break just over half way through the second quarter when the Tigers fumbled and HSE recovered at their own 28 yard line. Royals QB Kody Sparks was tackled in the backfield by Fishers' Michael Nettleton on the Royals last attempt and Fishers took over with the ball once again as the Royals punted it away.

Fishers took advantage, scoring their second touchdown of the night on a Matt Wolff pass to Collin Statz for the 28 yard gain and six more points. Ben Norton's extra point attempt was good, sending the Tigers to a 17-0 position with 1:08 left to play in the half.

Norton got one more shot at the goal posts with just three seconds left in the half and converted for Fishers. 20-0 Tigers going into the half.

The Tigers finished the half with 25 runs for 90 yards and went 8-8 for 151 total passing yards.

Fishers' Michael Noble led the rushers with 14 carries for 35 yards. He was followed by HL Lewis who went 5 for 21 and Matthew Wolff went 6 for 34 with one touchdown.

Wolff also led in passing completing 4-4 for 93 yards and one touchdown. Jon Vore went 4-4 for 58 yards.

Hamilton Southeastern had just 14 runs for 10 yards and went 0-4 on passing in the first half.

Jack Boyd led the Royals in rushing yards with eight carries for 10 yards while Cody Huppenthal went four for eight.

Huppenthal and Sparks were both 0-2 on passes in the first half.

The third quarter was uneventful for both teams, and Fishers carried their 20-0 lead into the final 12 minutes.

The Royals started playing better football in the fourth as quarterback Kody Sparks snuck past the Tigers defense for a one yard touchdown with just over seven to play in the game.

Southeastern converted once more as Nick Mutchner caught a 22 yard pass from Sparks with 2:21 left. Tyler Melser kicked the extra point, Fishers 20, HSE 14.

The game ended with Fishers up 20-14 and the Tigers are the 2017 Mudsock football champions.
