The Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles tennis team defeated the Munster Mustangs 4-1 Saturday morning. Guerin took an early lead 2-0 with the straight set wins of Michael Wade and Cole Metzger at #1 and #2 singles respectively. The other three matches were ling and grinding in the 90+ degree heat. Eventually the #1 doubles team of Wyatt Metzger and Jake Bratton pulled off a straight set win to seal the match, while the Mustangs took the #3 singles point. The day was far from over as the #2 doubles match resulted in tiebreakers in the first two sets. The team of Shane Shuler and AJ Hacker prevailed 10-4 in the tiebreaker to decide the outcome of the third set.

"It was a tough match and the Mustangs are a young and up and coming team. Coach Spoor has them playing at a high level of intensity," said Joe Lustig head coach for the Golden Eagles. "Michael Wade had an exceptional day today. He used shot selection and pace variation with his consistency to get a solid win at #1."

Guerin Catholic plays in the Carmel sectional beginning Wednesday at Carmel.
