The Lady Greyhounds competed in the Lady Eagles Invitational Saturday. The girls defeated nationally ranked Notre Dame Academy (OH) 2-0 and were tied by the #1 team in the country Penn High School 1-1.

"The Lady Eagles Invitational is one of our favorite events of the season. As a coach you are always looking for ways to measure your team's improvement during the year," said Greyhound coach Frank Dixon. "This tournament gives coaches and teams from 3 different states a chance to play against high caliber competition while evaluating player and team performance."

Centerback Elizabeth Hargis plus outside backs Emily Speidel and Tess Nihill shut down several attacking players who are D1 recruits. The midfielders Elyse Reed, Taylor Rudin, Morgan Parker, Kate Donovan, Kelsey James and Katie Soderstrom all contributed defensively and started most of Carmel's attacks. Soderstrom finished the day with a goal and 2 assists while James added a goal and an assist.

The team record at the midpoint of the season is 6-1-1 (MIC 2-0-0). Carmel plays next away at MIC opponents Lawrence North (Tuesday, Sept 5) and Lawrence Central (Wednesday, Sept 6).
