The Guerin Catholic baseball team had an excellent night both offensively and defensively on Monday night as it beat Sheridan 10-1.

The Golden Eagles got a strong performance on the mound from senior pitcher J.T. Lazarra who threw six innings, struck out seven batters and only gave up three hits. Guerin's fielding behind Lazarra was sure-handed as the team finished with zero errors.

The Golden Eagle bats were active on Monday as well. The team scored 10 runs on 13 hits.

In particular, senior Kyle Hennie had a big night at the plate going 3-for-3 including an RBI and scored two runs. Grant Fremion was also productive finishing 3-for-5 and scored three runs. Matt Olovich had two RBIs as he went 2-for-2 and scored two runs.

Sheridan never truly threatened Guerin as the Golden Eagles led 5-1 after four innings. But Guerin put any possible doubts away with a five-run sixth inning that emphatically sealed the win.

The win is Guerin's third straight bringing the team to 4-3 on the season. The loss was Sheridan's (4-1) first of the year after winning its first four. Guerin next plays 5:30 p.m. today versus Brebeuf. Sheridan plays host to Clinton Prairie, 5 p.m. today.
