The Westfield Lady Golf team kicked off their season in a big way on Monday morning at the Bloomington Country Club.

Sophomore sensation Jocelyn Bruch played one of the best rounds in the history of high school golf. Bruch broke the women's course record at Bloomington Country Club by posting a 62, which was an impressive 11 under par. Bruch finished the day with four birdies on the front nine for a 33, and a remarkable five birdies and an eagle on the back nine for a score of 29. Bruch was sitting at nine under with the 18th hole to play and hit her drive to the left fairway and then followed that with a fairway wood that took her just short of the elevated green. She then walked up to take a look at the green before settling on her shot choice, took a couple practice swings and then dropped it in for eagle to finish the day.

"Anybody that knows Jocelyn knows that she works so hard at improving her game," said Westfield girls golf coach Trever Neu. "I am so proud of this accomplishment for her and how she managed the course today because it was not playing as easily as she made it look. It was an amazing thing to witness."

The Shamrocks competed in the 15 team field with #1 ranked and defending state champions, the Evansville North Huskies, #4 ranked Columbus North, and #7 ranked Carmel. Westfield had a great day shooting a team score of 296, which was good enough to win the invitational by 16 strokes.

Following Bruch in scoring was Cailyn Henderson with a 77, Adrienne Montalone with a 78, Margaret Wentz 79 and Emma Clary 84. Natalie Shupe and Grace Snyder also competed as individuals and shot an 82 and 91 respectively.

The ladies will be competing again Tuesday at Stoney Creek in Noblesville at the HSE invitational and then Wednesday at the Zionsville Invitational.
