ARCADIA - The Hamilton Heights softball team put itself into a hole early and was never able to climb out.

The Huskies lost their home opener to Frankton 13-2 on Thursday night at home.

Heights gave up seven runs in the first inning and never recovered.

"We didn't show up ready to play tonight," head coach Landi Lockwood commented after the game. "We weren't communicating and made errors on defense that allowed Frankton to score several runs in the first inning."

The Huskies did muster two runs in the bottom of the first inning off of RBIs from Jessica Kaurich and Baileigh Baber, but the team was held scoreless for the rest of the game. Ashton Runner and Shelby Wills scored the runs for Heights.

Frankton had a strong night at the plate scoring its 13 runs off of 13 hits. The Huskies finished with five hits and four errors.

Heights (0-2) next plays against Lapel at home tonight beginning at 5 p.m.
