INDIANAPOLIS – The General Assembly of the Indiana House of Representatives approved a resolution to recognize the Indiana Military Veteran Hall of Fame Class of 2017, including George Ferkes, of Noblesville, and Thomas M. Montgomery, Fishers.
Sixteen Hoosier veterans were inducted into the 2017 class on Nov. 3, 2017.
Following the resolution, a concurrent resolution was approved, recognizing Indiana Credit Unions, leaders, and business partners, for raising and contributing funds to construct the Indiana Military Veteran Hall of Fame Memorial. Indiana is the only state with a freestanding Military Veterans Hall of Fame Memorial, and the Memorial was built without the use of taxpayer funds.
Two Hall of Fame inductees, retired US Army veteran, Lieutenant Colonel Richard M. Storm and retired US Army veteran Command Sergeant Major Jerry O. Blake, were present during the resolutions.
The Indiana General Assembly expressed its sincere gratitude for Indiana Credit Unions providing this funding within Section 1 of the concurrent resolution.
