FAIRMOUNT - After clawing its way back into the game with three runs in the top of the seventh inning, the Noblesville girls softball team's hopes were crushed by a Madison-Grant walk-off home run.

The Millers fell to Madison-Grant 8-5 in dramatic fashion on Monday night in Fairmount.

Madison-Grant took an early lead in the second inning when Katelyn Shouse blasted one over the fence scoring two runs.

The Millers trailed from that point on until they mustered three runs in the seventh to tie the game up at 5-5.

But Madison-Grant responded when it counted. With the game tied in the bottom of the seventh, Ashley Honeycutt won the contest for Madison-Grant with a three-run walk-off homer.

Three Millers had multiple hits in a losing effort: Maddie Moore, Bri Tragesser and Grace Smith. Brooke Herron pitched five innings giving up 10 hits and striking out one in defeat.

After a strong start, Noblesville has dropped three of four games for a total record of 4-3. The team plays in the Carmel Invitational, 5 p.m. Friday.
