EADS, Tenn. - The Noblesville Miller baseball team got a nice bounce-back win on Friday afternoon beating Briarcrest Christian 6-1 in Eads, Tenn.

The game was the first part of a doubleheader for Noblesville on Friday and also the second game of a four-game series in Tennessee this weekend for the Millers.

Noblesville pitcher Tyler Owens nearly shut out the Briarcrest Saints from the mound. Owens pitched a complete game striking out six, allowing five hits and only giving up one run.

On the opposing side, Briarcrest's Connor Shamblin also produced a solid pitching performance. Shamblin pitched five innings and struck out 10, but he gave up five runs in the process.

The Millers were led by Alex Cleverly at the plate. Cleverly went 2-for-2 hitting two doubles and drew a walk. Bryce Masterson and Jacob Thieman also recorded hits.

Noblesville scored three runs in the third inning, two in the fifth and one in the sixth. The Saints only managed one run in the top of the sixth.

The win brings the Millers to 2-1 on the season and 1-1 on their spring break road trip heading into the second game of Friday's doubleheader against Riverdale in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Noblesville plays again 11 a.m. Saturday against Munford.
