A pitchers' duel went the way of Munford, Tenn., Saturday, as Panthers edged the Noblesville boys baseball team 3-1.

Both teams were strong on the mound. Mark Goudy started the game for Noblesville Millers Varsity and recorded ten outs.

Noblesville took an early lead in the first inning. Bryce Masterson drove in one when he singled.

Munford evened things up at one in the bottom of the second inning. An error scored one run for Munford.

Munford took the lead for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Clay Holzworth walked Drew Drexler to drive in a run.

Austin Cousar earned the win for Munford. He threw seven innings, allowing one run, four hits, striking out eight, and walking one.

Goudy took the loss for Noblesville. He pitched three and a third innings, giving up three runs, one hit, striking out one, and walking one.

Travis Gillian led Noblesville with two hits in three at bats.

The Millers didn't have trouble finding runs against Riverdale, Tenn. Noblesville scared a "mercy rule' 13-1 victory.

The Millers got all the runs they would need in the top of the first inning plating 3 runners to start off the game.

After Riverdale narrowed the lead to 2-1 with a run in the bottom of the second, Noblesville scored 8 runs in the top of the third.

The Millers added another run each in the fourth and fifth innings.

Alex Cleverly, Jacob Thieman and Reese Sharp each pounded out a pair of hits for Noblesville. Thieman, Sharp and Zac Tuinei all had doubles.

Thieman drove in three runs, and Cleverly knocked in two runs.

Sharp went the distance on the hill, giving up 1 unearned run on three hits. He struck out four and walked three.

Noblesville returns home for 6 p.m. game Tuesday against Frankfort.
