The #22 Royals defeated Noblesville 5-0 to finish the conference regular season with a record of 3-3.

"It was great to not only get the match completed after two rain-outs, but also get our first 5-0 win of the season tonight," said HSE coach Kirk Webber.

At #1 doubles, the Royals senior captain duo of Mark Slaninka and Andrew Myers came out strong, beating the Miller duo of Ben Smith and Evan Voigt 6-1, 6-0 to complete their undefeated HCC season with a 6-0 conference record.

Next up was the #2 doubles team of HSE juniors Matthew Parker and Matt Meyer. They had a pretty close first set against Noblesville's Ryan Plummer and Jackson Ramey, but then they got going and ended up winning convincingly, 6-4, 6-1. They finished with a conference record of 5-1.

The third and match-clinching point was junior Elias Yarling at #2 singles, winning 6-0, 6-4 over Jackson Nance.

"He [Yarling] had a great first set, then his play dropped a little in the second, but he was able to step up at 5-4 and close out the second set.," said Webber.

The fourth point for the Royals came from Otto Lutz at #3 singles. Lutz faced Noblesville's Zach Greer.

"Otto struggled a little in the first set, but he was able to battle to way to a tiebreaker and then elevated his play and didn't drop a point in the breaker. Then, he never looked back, dominating the second set and winning 6-0," Webber said.

The final point of the night came from HSE junior McGuire Wolfe at #1 singles. McGuire started off playing well, but then he struggled at the end of the first set and lost it 3-6. He got down early in the second set, but then he regained his composure and started playing some great tennis.

He won the second set 6-4 and then took the momentum and ran with it, winning the third set decisively, 6-0.

"This was a big win for McGuire, and it was great to see him get over the hump tonight and put together a complete match," said Webber.

The Royals improved to 6-7 on the year.

"The 5-0 win tonight give us some great momentum going into the conference tournament on Saturday, which we host. It should be anyone's to win, and we should be right in the hunt for the championship," said Webber.
