Phyllis Jean Elliott, age 89, of Cicero, and formerly of Evansville, died Nov. 18, 2017, at home.

She was born Aug. 22, 1928, at Hymera, to Hershel Edgar and Ruth Marie (Coleman) Swayne.

She was a graduate of Bloomington High School, then earned an R.N. Degree at Union Hospital at Terre Haute. As a registered nurse, she had worked for more than 40 years at St. Mary's Hospital at Bloomington.

She was a member of Aldersgate Methodist Church at Evansville and of the Methodist Women's Group.  She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She loved to travel and became a world traveler, visiting all seven continents.

She married Jesse Leon Elliott on August 7, 1955.  He preceded her in death June 7, 2011.

Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Ann (Jan) Hoch of Cicero; four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and her parents she was also preceded in death by a daughter: Judy Berry and three brothers.

Funeral services are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, IN 46034.  Visitation is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. prior to the services.  Burial will occur at a later date at Hymera Cemetery.
