LOUISVILLE - Hamilton Southeastern Royals lost the lead late in a 6-4 defeat to Louisville Ballard on Thursday.

The game was tied at four with Ballard batting in the bottom of the fourth when there was an error, scoring one run.

The Royals lost despite out-hitting Ballard seven to six. Owen Callaghan and Brock Burns each collected multiple hits.

HSE took an early lead in the first inning. With one out, Callaghan drove in two runs when he homered.

In the bottom of the third inning, Ballard tied things up at four. Ballard took the lead for good with one run in the fourth. Callaghan and Trenton Schneider each batted in 2 runs.

Callaghan took the loss. He tossed four and a third innings, giving up six runs, five hits, and striking out seven.

HSE bounced back in its second game of the tournament, blanking Louisville Trinity 3-0.

Carter Lohman pitched 7 shut-out innings for the Royals, giving up one hits and five walks. He struck out seven.

Jake Stout drove in two runs and Trenton Schneider had two hits for the Royals, who improved to 5-1 on the season.

Both teams were scoreless through three innings, but in the top of the fourth Hamilton Southeastern plated all three of its runs.
