CARMEL - The Noblesville softball team lost the lead late in a 4-3 defeat to Carmel0 Wednesday.

Carmel was down 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Ava Walker grounded out, scoring one run.

The Lady Millers lost despite out-hitting Carmel eight to six.

Ava Walker earned the win for Carmel. She tossed two innings, allowing zero runs, three hits, striking out one, and walking zero.

Brooke Herron took the loss for Noblesville Lady Millers. She went six and a third innings, allowing four runs, six hits, and striking out three.

Sommer Edwards started the game for Carmel. She went four innings, surrendering two runs, three hits, striking out three, and walking zero.

The Lady Millers had eight hits in the game. Grace Smith and Herron each collected multiple hits for Noblesville. Herron and Smith each drove in one run to lead The Lady Millers.

Noblesville is in action 5:30 p.m. Friday against Cathedral.

Carmel next plays in Louisville, Ky., for a pair of games against Louisville Ballard and Northwestern Friday.
