For the ninth season, Guerin Catholic boys basketball coach Pete Smith will coach team barefoot Thursday night against Lapel.

Smith's barefoot coaching raises awareness for over 300 million children worldwide who wake up every day with no shoes. Samaritan's Feet is a non-profit organization serving children in over 72 countries, including children right here in our home city and state with new athletic shoes and socks, while washing their feet and sharing a message of hope with them.

Two of Smith's senior captains Matthew Godfrey and Joey Weas traveled abroad for this great organization last summer. If you would like to assist Smith and the school's cause, the GC website where you can help is https://samaritansfeet.myetap.org/fundraiser/fundraisingpage/team.do?participationRef=857.0.682493994&utm_source=January+20%2C+2017&utm_campaign=January+6%2C+2017&utm_medium=email.

Thursday's game will be televised by WHMB-TV 40 as their Game of the Week and will broadcast Friday night at 10:30 pm. This will be the ninth year the two rival schools will meet.
