HSE softball team falls to No. 1 New Pal

FISHERS - The Hamilton Southeastern Softball team lost to 3A No. 1 New Palestine 7-2 Thursday.

The offense was led by Bre Zook with 2 hits. The Royals travel to Fishers Friday night for a 6:00 game.

The Lady Royals scored both their runs in the seventh inning. Hamilton Southeastern had five hits in the game.

The Lady Dragons plated four runs in the second inning, to break open a 1-0 game. New Palestine added two more runs in the seventh.

New Palestine had 12 hits in the game.

Hamilton Southeastern returns to action 6 p.m. tonight at Fishers.

University netters edge Eagles

The University girls tennis team rested its seniors, and used its younger players to knock off Zionsville 3-2 Thursday.

Zionsville brought its freshman team to the match.

Gabby Hakes fought hard to win at the top spot. Her sister, Olivia Hakes, won a tough match when both teams were tied 2-2.

University takes on Tiger Tennis, 5 p.m. today.

Heights tennis team falls

BUNKER HILL - The Hamilton Heights girls tennis team dropped a close match playing at Maconaquah Thursday 3-2.

Straight set wins came from the #1 doubles team of Emma Knowles and Kylie Rose and the #2 doubles team of Kinsey Dimmock and Emily Peterson.

"This was a much improved Maconaquah team tonight. Hats off to them and the way they played. No doubt our girls will bounce back and use this as fuel as we move forward. Sometimes a loss isn't the worse thing. Sometimes that's just how you figure things out," said Cameron Scott, coach.

The JV team continued its strong start to the season winning 5-0.

Singles wins came from Abby Weber, Maddie Nickel, and Cortney Martin, while doubles wins came from Katy Beery/Hailey VanOeveren and Haley Griffard/Kate Biggs.

Hamilton Heights returns to action 11 a.m. Saturday at Cass.

Heights' linksters fall to Stars

CICERO - The Hamilton Heights Boys Golf Team fell Western Boone 165-189 in a match at Bear Slide Golf Club.

The Huskies were led by Jake Beale and his round of 43, followed by Max Beale's 47, John Thuer's 49, and Hudson Hochstedler's 50. The Huskies are now 2 and 1 on the season.

Western Boone's Jacon Meyer and Nik Wilson shared medalist honors, each carding 40s. Dalton Davis shot 41, Jared Michalke scored 44, Drew Demaree carded a 54, and Aaron Dickerson carded 59.

Hamilton Heights plays host to Frankton 4:30 p.m. Monday.

HSE golfers win three-way match

BROWNSBURG - The fifth-ranked Hamilton Southeastern varsity boys golf team shot a 4-over-par 148 to defeat Park Tudor and Brownsburg Thursday.

Park Tudor shot 155, and Brownsburg shot 158.

The Royals were led by seniors Jake Hutmacher, Alex Bullington, Will Kirchmer and Drew Alexander all with 1-over-par 37s, with Luke Jolly following with 38.

The team takes part in the Don Dicken Classic Invitational on Saturday in Warsaw.

University softball team crushed

EMINENCE - The University girls softball team was steamrolled by Eminence 24-2 Thursday.

The Lady Trailblazers started the game strong, as freshman Abby Martin doubled sending Annabelle Lance home to score.

In the third inning, senior Lucy Bodem drove in a run for the Trailblazers scored plating Lance, for her second run of the night.

Martin started as pitcher for the Trailblazers, while senior Jenny Bruemmer played catcher. Senior Maggie Klemsz and sophomore Lillian Klemsz played first and second base respectively for the Trailblazers and freshman Annie Klemsz and Elise Nachlis and sophomores Meredith Malott, Lydia Copeland, and Aiyanna Bruemmer-Gambles played in the outfield.
