Volleyball: Guerin volleyball falls to Franklin

FRANKLIN - The Guerin boys volleyball team fell to Franklin Community in straight sets 25-13, 25-15 and 25-18.

The Golden Eagles got off to a slow start in set one, but were able to end the set trading back and forth with the Grizzly Cubs.

The second set was trading back and forth for the majority of the game, but Guerin again fell short after allowing 15-5 run.

At one point in the third set, trailing 17-12, Sophomore Ethan Moster rallied the Golden Eagles to force a 17-17 tie and a timeout from the Grizzly Cubs, but then Franklin Community bounced back from the tie and ran away with the match on a 8-1 run.

Golf: Heights wins dual meet by 5 strokes

CICERO - The Hamilton Heights boys golf team beat Frankton 190-195 in a closely-contested dual meet at Bear Slide on Monday.

Heights golfer Hudson Hochstedler was the medalist of the meet carding a 42 on nine holes. The Huskies had the second best score of the night as well with Jake Beale's 45.

Frankton golfers Matt Ginder and Ethan Farr finished tied for third each finishing at 46.

The Huskies golf team is now 3-1 on the season.

Golf: Guerin golfers top Park Tudor

The Guerin Catholic boys golf team edged Park Tudor 148-152 Monday.

Ty Gingerich led the Golden Eagles with a 35, Matthew Godfrey carded a 37, Keaton Modleski and Grahm each carded 38s.

Other scores were Luke Paige, 39, Noah Chelovitz 40, Ben Walsh 42, Cam Welch and Matthew Hastings 43, and Stewart Hullen 52.

Golden Eagles will participate in the Noblesville Invitational 11 a.m. Saturday.

Softball: HSE defeats Eastern Hancock

FISHERS - The Hamilton Southeastern softball team beat Eastern Hancock 5-3 in 8 innings.

The Royals got solid pitching from Alexis Macha and Jaylah Guilliam. With Guilliam getting the win.

The Royals offense was lead by Abby Taylor and Jordan Rager both with 4 hits apiece.

The Royals play host to Tipton 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Softball: Fishers tops Lawrence North

The Fishers softball beat Lawrence North, Monday, on a 2 run home run by Briona Rance in the top of the 7th inning, and solid pitching by Mara Lorkowski.

After a stand up double by Alyssa Chavez, Rance, 2 for 2 on the night. took a 2-2 count over the center field fence to give the Tigers the lead, 5 to 4.

Lorkowski pitched 6 innings, which included 8 strike outs, to help lead the Tigers defensively. The win brings Lorkowski's over all record to 4-0 as a pitcher this season.

The Lady Tigers are scheduled to play at Yorktown, 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Tennis: HSE falls to North Central

FISHERS - The Hamilton Southeastern tennis team lost to third-ranked Indianapolis North Central, 4-1 Monday.

The lone win for HSE came from Jeorgia Templin at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

"Jeorgia had a dominant performanc, and she came out playing consistent, aggressive tennis from the get-go and never looked back," said Kirk Webber, coach.

At No. 1 singles, Ashley Spirrison lost 2-6, 3-6. She fought hard and was up 3-2 in the second set.

At No. 2 singles, Tory Ochs lost 2-6, 2-6.

In doubles, the No. 1 doubles team of Grace Rich and Katie Noble lost the first set 2-6 and then came out firing in the second set, getting up 3-0. Unfortunately, North Central stepped up and ended up winning the second set 7-5.

At No. 2 doubles, seniors Remi Musselman and Alicia Verde played well, but they lost a close first set 4-6, and then just couldn't quite get back on track, dropping the second set 0-6.

The Royals play host to Brownsburg, 5 p.m. Thursday.

Baseball: Royals top No. 1 Carmel

Rutger Poiry didn't allow a single run as Hamilton Southeastern Royals defeated No. 1 Carmel 2-0 Monday.

Poiry allowed just two hits and earned the win. He threw seven innings, giving up two hits, and striking out five.

Hamilton Southeastern didn't take the lead until late in the game. Jack Lang got on with an error and then stole 2nd base. Owen Callaghan drove in Lang when he singled in the sixth inning.

Trenton Schneider went 2-3 on the night. Callaghan went 1-for-3 at the plate with one run batted in. Dalton Hutchinson had two stolen bases.

The Royals, 8-3, return to conference action starting 6 p.m. Thursday with a 3- game series against Westfield.

Girls Lacrosse: Royals crush Panthers

INDIANAPOLIS - The Hamilton Southeastern girls lacrosse team crushed North Central 20-4 Saturday.

Eleven different girls scored least one point. The Royals were lead on the offense by Senior Emma Connell, Junior Lauren Madden, and Sophomore Rachel Harris.

Connell ended the night with 8 points on 6 goals with 2 assists. Both Madden and Harris contributed 6 points on 4 goals and 2 assists apiece.

Senior Center/Defensive player Taylor Miller helped The Lady Royals lead the possession game taking 20 of 26 draw controls.

Madden lead both teams with 10 draw controls. Harris had one forced turnover and 2 interceptions.

Boys Lacrosse: HSE tops Carmel

Hamilton Southeastern defeated Carmel 18-7 for its first win over the Greyhounds since 2009.

Keegan Logan (5 Goals), Max Brooks (2 Goals and 3 Assists), and Lukas DeVoe (3 Goals and 2 Assists) led the way for the Royals in the 'W' with 5 points apiece.

Golf: Top-ranked Carmel tops four

The top-ranked Carmel golf team shot 150 from the black tees at Wolf Run to defeat fourth-ranked Zionsville, with a 158, sixth-ranked Westfield, and Cathedral, both carding 171.

The Greyhounds played well on a tough course in fairly windy conditions.

Curtis Robertson, Cole Harris and Clay Stirsman all carded 37s for the Greyhounds, Nike Dentino shot a 39, Kevin Stone shot 40, and Nick Shaffer carded a 42.

Andrew Lewis of Westfield and Austin Vukovitz of Cathedral shot 36 to earn co-medalist honors.

Carmel and Westfield both next play 10 a.m. Saturday in the Noblesville Invitational.
