College: Fletchall Named Academic All-MAC

OXFORD, Ohio - Miami University student-athlete Emily Fletchall, of Fishers, has been named to the Academic All-Mid-American-Conference team. A league-high 33 members of Miami's track and field team earned a spot on this year's team.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.

Fletchall is earning a Bachelor of Science majoring in Kinesiology.

College: Singer named NAIA All-America

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - University of Saint Francis freshman Marissa Singer, of Noblesville and a Guerin Catholic High School graduate, continued her string of Lady Cougars 'firsts' becoming an NAIA Women's Golf All-America selection, as chosen by the NAIA-Women's Golf Coaches Association All-America Committee.

A total of 45 student-athletes were honored, with 15 individuals being named to the first, second and third teams.

Singer was named to the third team after she finished in a tie for 21st at the recently completed 2017 NAIA Women's Golf National Championship last week at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. Singer became the first member of the USF women's golf program to qualify for the NAIA Championship by becoming the first USF women's golfer to win the Crossroads League Championship title in the 12th season for the women's program.

Singer finished with a 229 (74-75-80) for the 54-hole CL Championship, a record score. She finished at 236 (79-75-82) at the NAIA Championship, which had to be cut from a scheduled 72 holes to 54 because of weather delays. Singer made the cut after the second round as one of 40 individuals including ties to earn a berth in the final day of competition. Singer finished her freshman season at USF as medalist in seven of 12 tournaments.

Golf: Heights tops Lapel

LEBANON - The Hamilton Heights golf team defeated Lapel 166-179 Wednesday at the Cool Lake Golf Course.

Price Knowles led the Huskies with the season low of 38. John Thuer carded a 42 for his season-low. Hudson Hochstedler and Jake Fulton both contributed 43's.

Sheridan also participated, but only had two golfers and did not post a team score.

Chris Roberts shot a 56 for the Blackhawks, Cortez scored 70.
