Local students honored by respective universities

DePauw University

The DePauw University men’s soccer team had three players named to the 2021 All-NCAC men’s soccer selections.

Senior midfielder Flynn Sheehan, of Oak Park, was named to the All-NCAC second team after leading the North Coast Athletic Conference in assists (8) this past season. Sheehan was tied for second for most goals for the Tigers with five and also led the team in points (18).

Named All-NCAC honorable mention selections, was sophomore forward Sam Thiel, of Carmel, and junior defender James Maguire, of Oak Park. Thiel led the Tigers in goals with six, five were game-winners, recorded three assists, and had the third-most points on the team with 15.

Maguire was one of two players who played and started in all 18 of DePauw’s games. A crucial piece to the Tigers defensive line, he also impacted the attacking end, recording two assists for the season.

Founded in 1837, DePauw University is a top-ranked, 100% residential, private liberal arts university in Greencastle, Ind. Lawrence University

Lilia Bodnar of Fishers, IN has been named to the Lawrence University Dean’s List for 2021, an annual honor roll of students demonstrating exemplary academic performance. The Dean’s List is compiled at the end of the academic year once all grades have been recorded. To make the Dean’s List, a student must have earned at least 36 units in Lawrence courses during the academic year and have earned a GPA of at least 3.5.

Founded in 1847, Lawrence University uniquely integrates a college of liberal arts and sciences with a nationally recognized conservatory of music, both devoted exclusively to undergraduate education. It was selected for inclusion in the book “Colleges That Change Lives: 40 Schools That Will Change the Way You Think About College.” Engaged learning, the development of multiple interests and community outreach are central to the Lawrence experience.
