What Makes HHSC Great for Students and Families

Every day I get to see our student’s curiosity sparked and dreams explored. I am in awe of the innovation, creativity, and passion I see among our staff who bring their best each day to inspire and engage students. A good example taking place this week is Future Huskies Week at the middle school. The goal of this program is to encourage ALL students to explore ideas for Employment, Enrollment, Enlistment, and Entrepreneurship. It doesn’t stop here – this week is part of a strong, collaborative effort at our middle school to offer robust career exploration opportunities throughout the year for students to develop skills and pursue interests that ensure they are college and career ready by graduation.

As a reminder, our second scheduled E-Learning Day of the year is set for this Friday, November 4. Students do not report to school.

Parents of seniors, mark your calendar to attend a free Financial Aid and FAFSA Filing event on Monday, November 7 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the high school media center. The evening, sponsored by INvestEd, is designed for those students who are interested in pursuing higher education in the form of a college, university or trade school and their families. INvestEd will have people and computers on site to help navigate the process and fill out the necessary forms. Money to those who qualify are awarded on a first come first serve basis so it’s always a good idea to apply as early as possible.

Next Friday is Veterans Day. This occasion gives us the opportunity to thank our veterans for always keeping the nation before themselves. I would like to recognize and express my gratitude to those men and women, who answered the call to serve, and for the sacrifices they have made so that we can enjoy the freedoms and life we lead today. Please join me in taking a moment, not just on Veterans Day, but any day there is an opportunity to thank and honor those who have served our country. We will always remember the dedication and sacrifice of our veteran families.

We look forward to Election Day 2022 next Tuesday, November 8. We share our thanks to all who have given of themselves to run as candidates this election season. Whether you vote early or vote on election day, please vote; we know our democracy depends on our engaged participation. Information about voting in Hamilton County can be found online at hamiltoncounty.in.gov/222/Current-Election-Information.

Thank you for your partnership and support. #WeAreHuskies
