Kurt Wanninger Announces Run for Westfield City Council

Kurt Wanninger, longtime Westfield leader and resident, has announced his run for Westfield City Council, At Large in May, 2023.

Wanninger is hopes to bring to the council his experience and leadership in the public and private sectors, his commitment to hard work and decades of serving the Westfield community.

His mission is to build trust in local government and be an advocate for the citizens of Westfield. If elected, Wanninger intends to focus on putting Westfield residents first by restoring confidence, respect and support among the city council, being transparent and accountable with taxpayers’ dollars and approaching the city’s imminent growth with intention and strategy.

“Westfield’s success is important to me; I have always put “Westfield First” and will continue to do so as a city council member. I know in my heart that we have the potential to be an even greater, unified city,” said Wanninger.

Wanninger has experience in both the private and public sectors. He served was the Public Works Director with the City of Westfield from 2002-12 and has extensive knowledge of the city’s infrastructure. In addition, he has worked with one of the largest water providers in the United States on the executive team, providing leadership in the operations and engineering department.

During this time, he managed multi-million-dollar projects and implemented programs and solutions across multiple states that resulted in increased efficiencies, reduced costs and cost savings.

Wanninger is currently a Senior Project Manager for an engineering firm. He serves on the board of directors for the Open Doors Food Pantry of Washington Township as Vice President. He has volunteered with Open Doors for the last 20 years.

Wanninger is also a past president, and current treasurer of the Rotary Club of Westfield. He has actively served on his subdivision residential HOA board since 2000.

Wanninger and his wife Tami have two adult children, Samantha and Josh, who are both Westfield Schools graduates. Together, the family values the importance of hard work, volunteering, family time and traveling.
