James A. Smith, 85, of Noblesville, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Riverview Health in Noblesville.
He was born on Feb. 27, 1936 to Edward and Marjorie Smith in Anderson, Ind.
Mr. Smith was a life-long resident of Noblesville and graduated from Noblesville High School in 1954. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and attended Butler University. Mr. Smith retired from the Teamsters and Wonder Bread in 2004. He was truly a Jack of all Trades, working as a paper boy, at a Texaco station, as a Noblesville fireman, as a demerit clerk for the railroad, as a charter employee of Household Hazardous Waste, and as an insurance agent, just to name a few. In addition to his many talents, Jim was a belly dancer and also played a mean 1-string bass.
Mr. Smith belonged to the Noblesville Friends Church where he served as a trustee and member of the ministry and counsel. He was a Sunday School teacher. He helped his wife in her preschool and adored all kids. He was a member of the Do-Si-Squares square dancing club and served two terms as their president. Mr. Smith enjoyed his membership with the Noblesville Jaycees and loved the companionship of his fellow members of the Noblesville Lions Club. He was a 32° Mason and enjoyed Lodge 54.
Mr. Smith was a lover of life and his humor permeated his life. He will be sorely missed, but we're sure he is telling God some pretty good stories!

James (Melanie) Smith; grandchildren, Alex (Cory) Smith, Sam (Courtney) Smith, Robert Smith and Ben (Jessica) Isaacs; great-grandchildren, Eli, Sawyer, Gavin, Adeline and Lynlee; as well as many nieces, nephews and many loving friends.
