Indiana Students to Join Virtual Classmates for In-Person Capitol Tour
Indiana students from Tech Trep Academy, a virtual school, will join their online classmates in a weeklong celebration of school choice next week, culminating in an in-person visit to the Capitol in Indianapolis on Friday, Jan. 28, where they will learn about the history of the state, celebrate school choice, and enjoy a snack.
Tech Trep Academy students from four other states will be making similar field trips to their own state capitols in Phoenix, Ariz.; Boise, Idaho; Nashville, Tenn.; and Cheyenne, Wyo. In addition, the school will premiere its student dance video compilation on Thursday, which will be posted to Tech Trep Academy’s social media.
This event is planned to coincide with the celebration of National School Choice Week, Jan. 23-29, 2022, which will feature tens of thousands of school choice celebrations across all 50 states.
“This January, Tech Trep Academy students will celebrate the freedom that we have to personalize our education,” said Janet Cox of Tech Trep Academy.
The event is organized by Tech Trep Academy, a virtual school that educates children in five states.
Members of the media who wish to attend or who would like more information may contact Janet Cox at 208-454-9848 or [email protected].
National School Choice Week shines a spotlight on effective K-12 education options for children, focusing equally on traditional public, charter, magnet, online, private, and home education options. Every January, participants plan tens of thousands of celebrations –– such as school fairs and open houses–– to raise awareness about school choice across all 50 states. School Choice Week also develops resources and guides to K-12 education for families. As a not-for-profit effort, the Week is nonpolitical and nonpartisan and does not advocate for legislation.
