John David Metzger

Nov. 19, 1966 – Jan. 1, 2022

John David Metzger, 55, Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis following a brief battle with Covid 19.

He was born on Nov. 19, 1966, in Anderson, Indiana to Lester Metzger and Hester (Sides) Metzger.

Mr. Metzger graduated from Lapel High School. He was employed at Eli Lilly in Indianapolis in medical manufacturing for the last 20 years.

He was a member of the College Park Church in Indianapolis. He loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed traveling, often taking family members with him. He was an avid sports fan, especially following Notre Dame, Colts football and IU basketball. He also enjoyed attending small group bible study.

Survivors include his siblings, Bob (Susan) Metzger of Lapel, Gerald (Kathy) Metzger of Noblesville, Marilyn (Eldon) Garber of Pendleton, Margaret (Roger) Garber of PA, Patricia (Jesse) Riffey of Wis., and Bill (Beth) Metzger of Lapel. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Marillis Richardson; and his brother, Thomas Wayne Metzger.

A funeral service is scheduled at Crossroads Community Church, 14885 Southeastern Parkway in Fishers on Monday, Jan. 17, 2022, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Don Bartemus officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Pendleton, Ind.

Visitation is scheduled from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022, at Hersberger-Bozell Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
