Maureen “Mo” Kopatz

June 19, 1948 – April 12, 2022

Maureen “Mo” Kopatz, 73, passed away on Tue., April 12, 2022 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis.

She was born on June 19, 1948 to the late John and Catherine (Simon) McDonough in Pittsburgh, Penn.

Mrs. Kopats was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. As a healthcare professional, she was always available to family and friends in times of need to offer comfort and advice. She was there through childbirth, sickness, and times of uncertainty. Mrs. Kopatz was an amazing cook and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She frequently prepared meals for her co-workers too.

She had a servant’s heart and dedicated her life to helping others. She worked for 40+ years as an RN where she found her true calling in Labor and Delivery. In her career Mrs. Kopatz comforted and coached hundreds of women as they gave birth and provided just as much care to their babies as they made their way into the world. She was a fierce patient advocate and was respected by all. Mrs. Kopatz mentored numerous nurses and was depended on by the entire staff as she held a leadership position for most of her career. She was the quiet in the storm.

After retirement Mrs. Kopatz enjoyed cooking, reading, painting, boating, and attending grandkids’ games and events. She spent a great deal of time with her husband, siblings and their spouses and was happiest when she was surrounded by the ones she loved.

She was an organ donor and even in death continued to care for others – her tissue donation will benefit breast cancer survivors and burn victims.

Survivors include her loving husband of 53 years, John; children Cara (Dan), Katie (Dave), and Corey (Nicole); grandchildren – all of which she helped usher into the world – Maureen, Avery, Peighton, Kendall, Jack, Chase, Danica, Will, Forrest and Harper; siblings Marilyn (Jim) and John (Marilyn); and her beloved nieces, nephews and other family members.

Her Celebration of Life is scheduled to be held at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road in Fishers on Sat., April 23, 2022. Visitation is scheduled to be held from 12 to 4 p.m. with a service starting at 4 p.m. Scrub attire welcome.
