With deep sorrow, the City of Westfield announced yesterday the death of Christine Brown, who was working as an Early Intervention Advocate with the Westfield Youth Assistance Program (WYAP). In her role as Early Intervention Advocate, Brown was a passionate advocate for children and teenagers facing challenging life circumstances. Westfield Mayor Andy Cook worked alongside her for nearly 10 years to help support WYAP.

“I join her colleagues and the many families she helped in our shared grief. Christine is responsible for impacting the lives of hundreds of kids. She was a true angel on earth, so she is well prepared for her destination,” said Mayor Cook.

Brown was on a family vacation in Paris with her husband Andy and their two sons, Ethan and Adam, when she suffered a medical emergency on Sunday and was rushed to a local hospital. She died two days later on August 9 with her family by her side.

“Christine was one of the most genuine, kind and loving friends that anyone could ask for,” said WYAP’s Tricia Akers. “She changed so many children’s lives in Westfield with her tireless efforts to support her ‘kiddos.'”

Steve Latour is President of the Westfield Youth Assistance Board of Directors. “There are few people that care as passionately for children and families than Christine,” said Latour. “Our program lost a legend. The impact that Christine made on WYAP is immeasurable. We will give great consideration to how we continue her life’s work.”

The Hamilton County Youth Assistance Program will share funeral arrangements when they become available.
