Barbara E. McDonald

March 24, 1924 – September 4, 2022

Barbara E. McDonald, of Cicero, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 4, 2022, at Harbor Manor at the Lodge in Noblesville.

She was born March 24, 1924 in Hamilton County, Indiana to Ashley and Edith (Sigmond) Shaffer.

She was 98 years old and led a wonderful life until suffering a stroke in February.

She was a 1942 graduate of McCordsville High School. Barbara married the love of her life, Wilfred “Bud” McDonald in June of 1943, and together they raised three children, Marsha Kay, Sharon Fae and Ronnie Jay.

She was an active member of Prairie Baptist Church in Noblesville until a few years ago. She loved working in various jobs at the church. She loved gardening, children, and spending time with her family and friends.

She worked at The Peddler dress shop in Anderson for many years, but her favorite job was cashiering at The Corner Drug Store in Noblesville.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Sharon Webb of Noblesville; son, Ron (Teri) McDonald of Cicero; son-in-law, Terry Murray of Cicero; sister, Mary Jo Smith of Pendleton; and a brother, Larry Shaffer of Wilmington, Delaware. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and their spouses, eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews..

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud McDonald; daughter, Marsha Murray; son-in-law, Robert Webb; sister, Helen Rowland; brother, Ralph Shaffer; and her parents.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Hersberger-Bozell Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel , Indiana 46051 with Rev. Mark Knapp officiating.

Visitation will be 12:00-2:00 PM Thursday, September 8, 2022.

Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery in Lapel.
