Smile

What makes John Davidson smile? “This has made me smile today. We’ve served about a hundred people,” said the 67-year-old Noblesville resident and member of Wayne-Fall Lions Club, which was serving a Palm Sunday all-you-can-eat pancake, eggs, sausage and bacon breakfast at the club. “It’s a nice breakfast for a good cause, raising money for charities in our community. Why does he enjoy being a Lion? “Camaraderie … It’s just a good group of people.” His job on Sunday was taking the orders, setting the tables and did a little bit of cooking. He is a Marion, Ind., native and graduated from Bennett Catholic High School in Marion. He attended Indiana University and studied business law and worked at the same time. After college, he worked in Cincinnati and then Chicago. His main job was “running kitchens.” He has spent most of his career managing kitchens for large corporations, including two in Indiana at Indiana Roof Ballroom and Indiana Convention Center, where he was cash sales manager. He is currently a correctional officer for the State of Indiana at Pendleton. He owns two Honda Gold Wing motorcycles. He and his wife of 24 years, Sally Pickard Davidson, a teacher at Carmel Clay Schools, have a 12-year-old daughter, Azalea, a yodeling sixth-grader and Hamilton County 4-H’er who is a 2022 Indiana State Fair Youth Talent Show Grand Champion. She performed at the State Fair Opry House at the 2022 State Fair and will perform again at the 2023 State Fair. She has been invited to compete with her yodeling on “America’s Got Talent” in 2024. Davidson said proudly, “That’s my daughter.”
