Dinah Sue Owen
February 4, 1960, Sunday, April 23, 2023
Dinah Sue Owen, age 63, of Sheridan, Indiana, passed away on Sunday morning, April 23, 2023, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville, Indiana.
Born February 4, 1960, in Columbus, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Paul Leonard and Tina Pearl (Flora) Sanders.
She was a graduate of Woodford County High School, as well as a graduate of PCI College, earning her certification as a Medical Assistant. For 30 years, she worked as a nurse for Dr. Habig’s office in Westfield. She quickly became an irreplaceable part of office and was a favorite of Dr. Habig’s patients.
Dinah was a caregiver with a servant’s heart. She thought everyone deserved at least one person in their corner and went out of her way to help those who didn’t have anyone in their lives they could count on. She always seemed to be bringing in “strays” (the people kind) and giving them exactly what they needed… someone who cared. Dinah enjoyed crafting and making jewelry, but her family road trips really helped her relax. Even though Cozumel, Mexico was one of her favorite travel destinations, there was something special about her “sister” trips to Kentucky Lake that made them the place to be, year after year.
Dinah is survived by her loving husband, Mitchell Lee Owen. She and Mitchell were married on November 19, 1988. Also surviving are her son, Levi T. Owen (Maggie) of Sheridan; daughter, Morgan Ferguson of Indianapolis; 2 grandchildren, Brynn Scott and Ryann Owen; brother, Thomas Sanders of Westfield; sisters, Paula Sanders-DeWar (Tom) of Gary, and Lillie Sanders-Owen (John) of Spencer; and her canine furbaby, Tobie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Leonard and Tina Pearl (Flora) Sanders.
A celebration of Dinah’s life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday May 20, 2023, at the Sheridan American Legion, 406 E. 10th Street, Sheridan, Indiana.
Through Dinah’s gift of organ donation, she was able to save three lives. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be presented to the Angel Fund, c/o Indiana Donor Network Foundation, 3760 Guion Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46222.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kercheval Funeral Home in Sheridan.
