George Winfield Mather

George Winfield Mather, 59, of Noblesville, Indiana, passed away on May 7th, 2023 after a 1-month battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home. He was born on November 6, 1963 in Orange, NJ to the late George and Florence (Sroka) Mather.

George is survived by his wife and best friend of 26 years, Cynthia (Loesch) Mather, daughter Rachel Mather, son-in-law Jackson Bertoli, son Trevor Mather, sister Alice (Mather) Zeller, nephew Roland Drake, nieces Evelyn (Santiago) Rosa and Arlene Kaczka. He was preceded in death by his sisters Marilyn Mather, Linda (Mather) Santiago, his niece Claire Santiago and beloved dog Ike.

George grew up in Kearny, NJ where he made lifelong friends, and moved to California in 1987. He and Cindy met at work and were married cliffside at Laguna Beach in 1996. Settling down in Noblesville, they raised their children Rachel and Trevor. George was employed with Anthem/Elevance Health for 23 years, working in the IT field.

George was a man of many facets. He had a deep passion for music that began as a teenager when he learned to play the guitar. His love for live music flourished over time, and he tracked the Grateful Dead through countless states and venues with close friends. He supported up and coming musicians, wanting everyone to experience the joy of making music.

George had a thirst for knowledge that could not be quenched. He was always reading and learning about the newest information about technology, science, art, medicine, politics. And the list goes on.

George had a deep love for his family. He felt raising his children was his greatest accomplishment. He had a passion for photography capturing all of the moments, little or big, in his family. He enjoyed family vacations, bike rides, and cooking. He was famous for his homemade meatballs and pizza.

George was a giving man who cared deeply for the well-being of others. He believed that everyone deserves equal treatment, and he was always willing to help anyone who needed it, regardless of whether they asked for help or not. He also had an incredible wit that kept everyone on their toes during conversations with him. “Good joke, bad joke?” – George Mather

A celebration of life will be held on May 16th from 5-7pm at Randall and Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Rd, Noblesville, IN 46062. At 7pm, the celebration will continue where all attendees are welcome to share their personal memories of George.
